A Time for Everything

It was no surprise to our family when J was told about his upcoming duties. Deployments are a part of military life. And this Chaplain was looking forward to the opportunity to bless others as he had been blessed.

This part of J's story began in a desert in 1991. He recalls the separation from his wife and family as difficult, but his growth in his faith was profound. "Impromptu worship gatherings sprung up. Marines from all different backgrounds would circle up for prayer. One guy had his guitar to lead worship songs."

At a time when distractions were at a minimum, J felt the call to minister to other soldiers in the same way he had been ministered to. The strong conviction that these young men felt had a huge impact.

So now this story returns to the desert. J will be traveling with a group consisting of several branches of the armed forces. He will shepherd groups of civil engineers as they build and rebuild in various locations. God knew that all those years working in the construction field would be more useful than just putting food on the table. Now he will work side by side with carpenters and craftsmen, welders and workers, sharing the truth and hope of the gospel.

Some of his duties will include devotions and counseling. More importantly, J will be working alongside these dedicated men and women.

Please be in prayer for all those who serve.
